Cayden had his swallow study today. He did really well. The test showed that he does the following things: First, he is a "slow swallower". This means he fills the back of his throat until it is overly full then he swallows. Second, he allows formula to penetrate his airway and we think he occasionally aspirates. Thirdly, he is refluxing into his nasal passages. Thankfully, it is a pretty easy "fix" we will be thickening all of his liquids until he grows out of these issues. He will also be on reflux medicine as well. It should take him a couple weeks to get used to the new thickness and it will take a few weeks to heal from the irritation so we should see improvement in the next month or two. We are so blessed to have answers today! Thank you to all of our friends and family for your thoughts and prayers...everything is really starting to come together! Next is our Neurology appointment on March 23rd and I will continue to keep you updated!
