Not even a week after Cayden's amazing cardiology checkup he gave us a scare...On Saturday, January 22nd, Cayden starting vomiting in the night. Sunday morning we tried pedialyte with little success. Monday brought more vomiting and no eating which brought on dehydration and landed us in the hospital on Tuesday morning. We were admitted into Peyton Manning Children's Hospital. He received IV fluids and pedialyte by mouth. He started to eat diluted formula and was successful at keeping it down. We were discharged on Wednesday afternoon, on our way home, Cayden proceeded to vomit again. Back to the hospital we went! He was readmitted and we stayed until Thursday afternoon. Even though he was begininning to eat and keep things down he was still lethargic, fussy, he was sleeping 18-20 hours a day. The doctors kept saying it was a stomach virus...we were back in the pediatrician's office on Friday. We followed up on Monday with little change. This resulted into two X-rays to start ruling out causes, both came back clear. The next step was blood work and a following up with the cardiologist. However, before we could do this the ice hit and we were iced in for 2 days!! We were praying for Cayden to not get any worse as it would be dangerous roads to get him to the ER. Thankfully, he started to perk up on Tuesday evening and continued to become more active throughout Wednesday. Wednesday night he broke out into a rash which confirmed the suspicion of a virus. This is a long drown out post full of details that are here for one reason and one reason only...for me to REMEMBER!!! I want to remember how a small GI virus could knock down my baby's fragile system. I want to remember when he is running all around, starting school, graduating college, and getting married that it was a long, stressful, yet BLESSED road! Thank you God for continuing to watch over all of our beautiful boys and for always surrounding us with your love during times of stress and times of joy. We are truly blessed!
